Connect a Printer to Wi-Fi

Check network settings and add your printer.

Before setup

  • Know the Wi-Fi network name and password.
  • Keep the printer within reliable wireless range.
  • Check the printer's supported Wi-Fi bands and security settings.

Steps

  1. Open the printer's wireless menu or manufacturer's setup app.
  2. Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
  3. Wait for the printer to confirm connection.
  4. Connect your computer to the appropriate network.
  5. Add the printer in system settings and print a test page.

If setup fails, recheck the password and follow the manufacturer's instructions for your exact model.

Wireless troubleshooting

Common reasons Wi-Fi setup fails.

01

Incorrect password

Check capital letters, symbols and spaces. Re-enter the password carefully on the printer or setup app.

02

Network mismatch

Make sure the printer and computer are on the intended network. Guest networks may block device discovery.

03

Unsupported band

Some models support only certain Wi-Fi bands or security modes. Check the manual before changing router settings.

Do not share your Wi-Fi password with unofficial support tools. Follow your router and printer manufacturers’ security recommendations.
